This will be a place where I will share what I do with fiber scraps & other found objects, & turn them into fiber art postcards. It is also a companion blog to my Yahoo postcard group. I hope you enjoy the pics!

FS2R X-mas Postcards
This is the 1st of my X-mas postcards for my yahoo group swap.
It was made by sewing green scrap strips together, fusing on WU & cutting out
holly leafs. The leaves where then arranged on a green circle that was previously fused to a W/O/W background. Then I satin stitched the leaves, & shadow quilted the white background. Adding the bow was a bit tricky, but all in all, I think it turned out rather nice. Now on to another card! Only 10 more to go!!!!

"Orphan Annie Finds a Home" Postcard
Postcard group exercise #2
Since Thanksgiving was just a few days away, I thought that making a card out of an orphan block would be a great idea. This card took no time at all, & made use of what I already had at hand. It also allowed me to use a different method of edge finishing. I usually do a satin-stitch edge, but wanted to experiment with a mitered fabric finish. This was quick, easy, & a learning experience all rolled into one...so even though it's not perfect...it's still a win-win situation.

"Holly Days #1 X-mas postcard
This is the 1st card from the red plaid sample. It was my 1st try at fabric stamping. I took the 12 x 10 scrap of plaid & used a foam stamp to put random leaves all over the surface. I then specked on a silver glitter paint. Let this dry & heat set. Put a layer of batting & cotton on & started stitching. Then I added what I thought was a fusible peltex & muslin, but even with a damp press cloth, I couldn't get it to fuse together; (but I did manage to lose most of the glitter paint in this attempt to fuse.) At least I know for future reference!
While the WU cooled on the muslin, I put the peltex on the front part of the card & did some stitching, fused the back on & did the satin finish on the edges. I didn't have anything red enough to show up against the background to do the berries in, so I opted to use fabric glue & sprinkled white glitter generously for added depth.
This card will be sent to the Postcard Posse for Troops, so that a soldier overseas will get a X-mas greeting from home for the holidays.

Jungle Boogie Postcard
Well I've gone & done it this time!
Just started my own Yahoo group for Postcards & ATC's. I really like making these, they are so fun! Very addictive!!! It gives me a chance to use up all the little things I keep saving, & I can't bring myself to throw away those darn scraps! I think they multiply while I'm asleep.
I posted a few pics of the cards I made for Thanksgiving for the troops on my quilting groups, & many of the ladies there expressed so much interest, & wanted to know how I made them. Well a beginner friendly group was born. This is what I made for the group exercise 1. Hope you enjoy it! BTW this is only the 5th card that I've made, & I'm trying out new techniques on each one I make, until I can do everything!
Practice makes perfect right? Or maybe sometimes you just get lucky!
